Forgotten time
Cai Qin (Tsai Chin) – Bei yi wang de shi guang

shi shui zai qiao da wo chuang
Who is knocking on my window

shi shui zai liao dong qin xian
Who is strumming the strings

That one period of forgotten time

jian jian di hui sheng chu wo xin kan
Slowly rises up from my heart

shi shui zai qiao da wo chuang
Who is knocking my window

shi shui zai liao dong qin xian
Who is strumming the strings

The joyful scenes of memories

man man de fu xian zai wo de nao hai
Slowly flow up to the sea of my brain

That lightly dripping little rains

bu ting de da zai wo chuang
non-stoppingly hit on my window

zhi you na shen mo bu yu de wo
Only that silent, non-talking myself

bu shi de hui xiang guo qu
can’t stop remembering the past

Biography of Tsai Chin / Cai qin:
Tsai Chin (Chinese: 蔡琴; pinyin: Cài Qín) is a pop and folk singer from Taiwan (her ancestral home is in Hubei). She sings in both Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese Hokkien and is known for her naturally magnetic rich vocals and witty persona.
Her well-known hits include Bei yiwang de shiguang (《被遺忘的時光》, The Forgotten Time), Qiashi ni de wenrou (《恰似你的温柔》, Just Like Your Tenderness), Zuihou yi ye (《最後一夜》, The Last Night), Du ni (《讀你》, Reading You), and Ni de yanshen (《你的眼神》, The Spirit of Your Eyes). The peak of her popularity in Taiwan was from the late 1970s to the mid-1990s but she remains popular in China.

Tsai Chin’s song Lost Time features prominently in the 2002 hit Hong Kong film Infernal Affairs as a key theme to its plotline, and its sequels. As well as serving to elucidate the theme of the films, the song plays an important plot function in chronologically connecting various elements of the story.

Chin’s albums Tsai Chin Live 2007 and Golden Voice were both awarded one of the Top 10 Selling Mandarin Albums of the Year at the 2007 IFPI Hong Kong Album Sales Awards, presented by the Hong Kong branch of IFPI.
