Learn Chinese phrases, sentence – learn Mandarin – How to say ” That plum is very sour. It doesn’t taste good” in Chinese: 那李子很酸，不好吃。Na4 li3 zi5 hen3 suan1, bu4 hao3 chi1. Na4 (那 that) li3 zi5 (李子 plum) hen3 (很very) suan1 (酸 sour), bu4 (不 not, a negation word to put in front of an adjective phrase to negate it), hao3 (好 good) chi1 (吃 eat) (好吃 hao3 chi1 mean delicious). For using bu4 to negate an adjective phrase: 不好吃 (bu4 hao3 chi1, not delicious), 不好看 (bu4 hao3 kan4, not good looking)， 不美丽 (bu4 mei3 li4, not beautiful)， 不快乐 (bu4 kuai4 le4, not happy)，and 不安全 (bu4 an1 quan2 not safe).

Learn Chinese sentence, phrases – learn Mandarin – How to say “The sky darkens earlier in winter” in Chinese: 冬天天黑得比较早。 Dong1 tian1 tian1 hei1 de2 bi3 jiao4 zao3. Dong1 tian1 (冬天 winter)  tian1 (天 sky) hei1 (黑black, here is a verb means darken) de2 (得 a particle which usually put after the verb) bi3 jiao4 (比较 comparatively, an adverb) zao3 (早 early). 比较 is an useful phrase to show comparison:  comparatively bigger 比较大 （da4 big) ，comparatively smaller 比较小 (xiao3, small)， comparatively longer 比较长 (chang2, long)， comparatively shorter 比较短 (duan3, short)，comparatively prettier 比较美 (mei3, pretty, beautiful)，comparatively uglier 比较丑 (chou3, ugly)，comparatively more 比较多 (duo1, many)，and comparatively lesser 比较少(shao3, few)。
