Na4 (那 pronoun, that) ge5 (个 measure word for person) hong2 (红 adjective, red) bi2 zi5 (鼻子 noun, nose) de5 (的 particle, to connect the attribute and the noun it describes) xiao3 chou3 (小丑 noun, clown) kan4 (看 verb, look) qi3 lai2 ( 起来 an affix usage: usually used after an intransitive verb -a verb that does not require or cannot take a direct object – to indicate the start and continuation of an action) fei1 chang2 (非常 adverb, very) hua2 ji1 (滑稽adjective, funny).

The 起来 qi3 lai2 structure–

起来 qi3 lai2, a phrase usually got attached to some intransitive verbs -verbs that do not require or cannot take a direct object – to indicate the start and continuation of an action.

For example:

(1) 天气冷起来了。
Tian1 qi4 leng3 qi3 lai2 le5.
The weather gets colder.

(2) 妹妹笑起来了。
Mei4 mei5 xiao4 qi3 lai2 le5.
Younger sister starts laughing.

The phrase 滑稽 hua2 ji1 or gu3 ji1 means funny, like the way we would use to describe clown. 滑稽 can also be used sarcastically to mean ridiculous and interesting. For example, you can say ” 他走路很小心,可是滑倒了,四脚朝天,真滑稽。”
ta1 zou3 lu4 hen3 xiao3 xin1, ke3 shi4 hua2 dao3 le5, si4 jiao3 chao2 tian1, zhen1 hua2 ji1. He walked very carefully, but he slipped and fell.(At the time he fell) All hands and legs were pointing to the sky; it is really ridiculous and funny.

There is a phrase called 滑天下之大稽 hua2 tian1 xia4 zhi1 da4 ji1, which means something is extremely funny and ridiculous in a sarcastic way. 天下 tian1 xia4 is a classic phrase means the world (世界, shi4 jie4). So, if something is the funniest and most ridiculous, then you can use 滑天下之大稽. For example, 他工作时常常打嗑睡,每天都迟到,早退, 竟得到最佳员工奖,真是滑天下之大稽。Ta1 gong1 zuo4 shi2 chang2 chang2 da3 ke1 shui4, mei3 tian1 dou1 chi2 dao4, zao3 tui4, jing4 de2 dao4 zui4 jia1 yuan2 gong1 jiang3, zhen1 shi4 hua2 tian1 xia4 zhi1 da4 ji1. When he works, he usually dozes, and everyday arrives at work late, and leaves earlier. To one’s surprise, he got the best employee award. That is extremely funny and ridiculous.
